For centuries garden furniture has livened gardens. The Greeks and Romans included statues in their landscaping. Every major European artistic movement has featured handcrafted garden furniture.

Some landscapers decorate exclusively with antique garden furniture and garden statues. Hunting for these treasures is half the fun. You can drive around the countryside looking for antique stores or hope to stumble upon a hidden treasure in a yard sale.

If you are really serious about antique garden furniture, prepare for an annual trip to New York's Botanical Garden. Every year this three day event hosts over 30 of the country’s top dealers. Antique experts will informally exchange information and also give talks.
