Backyard designs FAQs
Do people make a living constructing backyard
designs?
Landscape architects usually go to school for six years before they
work as professional backyard designers. Their training includes four
years of undergraduate work and two years of master’s study. They
also usually intern with a farm before they graduate.
Can the construction of my backyard design effect how people
interact in my yard?
Scholars have put up hidden cameras in city parks and studied how outdoor
furniture influences people's behavior. For example, more fountains,
benches, and green space tend to increase human interaction and conversation.
Similarly, if you face all the chairs in your yard toward each other
people are more likely to interact. If you place one chaise lounge chair
off by itself you will be creating a haven for a shyer guest.
Can improvements in my backyard increase my overall homes worth?
If you spend money to renovate your yard it will likely make it more
desirable to others and therefore increase its value. However, during
rocky real estate times such as these you should be careful how much
you invest. High-priced houses are not selling as well because of lower
demand and unwillingness by the banks to grant large amounts of credit.
